All
the signs are here of commitment to fresh, seasonal produce. First, the
flexible blackboard menu, adjusted as daily-made dishes come and go in
this bright, lively venue with patio eating outside on the lawn. There
is a fresh tasting potato, leek and cracked pepper soup, well-flavoured
with aromatic herbs and proper stock . A plateful of Arran cheddar, courgette
and lentil roulade with an interesting seasonal salad platter, including
strawberries. Why not?
The
menu selection caters for a mix of eating preferences from eclectic-adventurous
to homely-traditional. Roast loin of lamb with rosemary and garlic is
served with minted potato cake; fillet or sirloin steak with baked potatoes
and salad along with Lochranza whisky or pepper sauce; Blackwaterfoot
black pudding in tempura batter with sweet and sour sauce; summer pudding
with mango sauce.
Expect to pay £5-7 for main courses. Freshly baked pizzas,
£5.00.Crusty bread paninnis, made with locally baked baguettes £3.95.
