Just three bedrooms, and a self contained suite of rooms in Apple Cottage, make for intimacy and personal attention in this large house which was once the village manse. Dinner is for residents only and includes a selection of refreshingly simple notions such as a seasonal vegetable platter garnished with fresh herbs from the garden served with the main course.

Menus are clearly written, three courses and though it is a 'no choice' menu, special diets and preferences are catered for. On one night: Slices of locally smoked salmon with lemon, watercress and fennel salad, served with thinly sliced bread and butter; Whole roast leg of lamb with garlic, coriander and rosemary served with a redcurrant, orange and port sauce; followed by hot strawberries and mangoes with cream. Dinner is good value at £17.00
